Line 2: Line 2:

-Officially the Nihonic StateNihon is an archipelago off the coast of Zhongguo consisting of the 4 main islands; Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu.+Nihon (or Yamatoas some call it) is an archipelago and country off the coast of Korea.

-Before its annexation by Russia, Nihon was a pretty sleepy archipelago who didnt meddle much in the affairs of its neighbors, usually it would just trade with [[zhongguo|Zhongguo]] and other surrounding nations. The only conflict its faced before Russian annexation was a revolution against the ruling oligarchs known as the Taiyou Kouteitachi, causing whats known as the Sengoku period of Nihon, though by the end of it, Nihon became a stable republic centered in Edo until the annexation from Russia.+====== Nihonic History ======

-During its time as a russian colony it has undergone what was known as "Russification", vain attempts by the Russian colonial government to convert the Nihonic people to Russian culture, forcing them to speak Russian instead of Nihonic and the burning of Shinto shrines across the country are examples of this. Disobeying the orders would get you and your family arrested, though after the fragmentation of Russia and the end of the civil war; Nihon slowly started to re-embrace its culture once more, though with different bits of Russian culture still prevalent in the nation. But, speaking Russian in public is still looked down upon as its considered "the language of the oppressor".

-After the fragmentation of Russia, Nihons economy crashes the hardest its ever crashed in its history, leading to a civil war containing 3 factions, the Shakai Minshu-tō party (Sapporo Government), The Tōhōkai group in Edo, and then the Restorationists (Kyoto Government). At first the colonial government head was ousted from power and executed by the ultra-nationalist Tōhōkai group, who replaced the Russian head with a Nihonic one. then in central Nihon, an Authoritarian Tōhōkai branch dictatorship pops up with its head in Edo, declaring that the ultranationalist branch of the Tōhōkai group "unfit for rule", and then a 'descendant' from the old Nihonic Monarchy, before the Sengoku period that is, declares himself monarch of Nihon in Kyoto, even going as far as to having a damned parade through the streets into the somewhat restored Kansai senate building that was renamed to the "Taiyou Kyuuden" during the time the faction ruled Kyoto, and then finally just before the civil war officially starts, the Tōhōkai group is ousted from power, thus leaving Sapporo to be ruled by the Shakai Minshu-tō party; a group consisting of mainly social democrats and democratic socialists. Though with the Edo governments dissolution caused by meddling from the Ultranationalists, the fighting is mainly waged between Sapporo and Kyoto with Edo being the main city both fight for.+===== Warring States Period (Sengoku Jidai[1103 1635] =====

- As the war goes on, multiple decentralized charities start popping up to support the impoverished and weak in their areas, the biggest of these being the [[npk:yumiko_kurimoto|Kurimoto]] Support Group centered in Kansaithey all soon join together to become the Nihonic branch of [[org:green_bell|Green Bell]] after the civil war ends+After continuous failings from the shogun in power at the timethe country had fractured into multiple states vying for power. During this time most villages and smaller cities would start to support each other in multiple different ways to take the burden off of everyone as the battles went onthese are most commonly cited as some of the first occurrences of communal action and support happening in Nihon.

-Both sides in the war have to deal with resistance from multiple different groupsthe Sapporo Government dealing with the multitude of Tōhōkai group militias patrolling around acting as if Edo hasnt fell yetkilling random soldiers from Sapporo.. even going as far as to have gang fights with different factions in the groupit was like there was another war happening in Edo during this period. Then the restorationists had to deal with basically everyone with how unpopular monarchy is, especially the Taiyou Kouteitachi, the monthly military parade would always be met with boo'and eggs being thrown at the emperor with the occasional assassination attempt.+The clan to eventually reunite Nihon would be met with some internal strifethus leading to a snap election and a leader with more liberal and democratic views becoming head of the countrya break from the norm of Nihon at this timeSoon after though, this leader would gain the idea to take over Kyoto (the then capital) and the rest of Kansai as a way of gaining control over the rest of the country.

- Sooner or later, Zhongguo starts to send aid and volunteers over to the Sapporo government causing Edo to fall to themwhich in response [[rigasia|Rigasia]] does the same and supports the Restorationists, though with the defense stationed in Edo destroyed, the Sapporo Government soon arrives in Kyoto with minimal resistance regarding the relative unpopularity of the Emperor. Thus, with the wars end, the Sapporo government becomes the Nihonic State.+Suffice to saythis worked. By the end of the Sengoku period they would have taken back the entirety of southern Honshu and closed in on Tohokuleading to the end of the period.

-After the civil war the newly reunited isle experiences rapid economic growth after opening trade with Zhongguo again, paving the way for a new golden age of Nihon! This causes the nation to start work on industrialization and social programs for the citizens to help ease them back into security, though despite the people being secure monetarily, welfare programs still exist for those who need it. With the governments pro-Zhongguo stance, Rigasia has cut all support for the nation, no one except Zhongguoan allies trade with them+===== Nihonic First Republic [Ichi Nihon-koku] [1635 - 1824] =====

 +After the civil war Nihon would slowly transition to a constitutional monarchy under the center right 'People for Yamato' faction, these people would keep the already figurehead emperor to gain legitimacy points across the country of Nihon. With the republic being formed, most of the shogun clans were either dissolved or killed off to destroy unnecessary unrest in the nation, leading to the first president being thought of as either a "butcher" or "efficient leader" depending on your political stance.

 +For awhile though, the nation had slowly become more and more stable and free as the People for Yamato party and many others took it upon themself to help the people  in whatever situation they had needed, what marked this period was a slow lowering of poverty rates and a heightening of social services across the nation, this included: welfare services, rehabilitation facilities, and some more.
 +
 +===== Faradian Colony [1824 - 1912] =====
 +
 +As colonialism came to a rise, Nihon was met with annexation and take over of the country after Faradia had started colonizing the easternmost coast of Asia in an effort to gain power. This resulted in cultural and political shifts towards more leftist attitudes with how Nihon suffered.
 +
 +Faradia had taken upon itself to burn and plunder throughout the country, burning Nihonic cultural artifacts (Shinto Shrines, Castles, etc) which led to extreme contempt towards the Faradian government and people. Some people initially did resist in any way they could.
 +
 +The country had slowly become more and more resistant to occupation though as time went on, mass protests and raids in the capital of the colony (Sapporo) as more and more manpower flooded into the archipelago with people showing extreme resistance.
 +
 +By the end of the era there had been multiple armed militias associated with the Tohokai Group and Nihonic Socialist Coalition which had started multiple fights with the Faradian army. These groups were the first soldiers fighting in the 2nd Sengoku Period
 +
 +===== The 2nd Warring States Period (Ni Sengoku Jidai) [1920 - 1959] =====
 +
 +Also known as the Nihonic Civil War. Three main factions had formed during this period: The Sun Restoration (Ni ishin), Nihonic Socialist Coalition (Nihon Akairo Renritsu), and the Tohokai Group.
 +
 +During the first stage of the civil war, the Faradian government had fallen and the Nihon was put into independence after nearly 100 years of colonial rule, leading to a power vacuum first having the Tohokai group take power in Sapporo, then after an assassination and coup d'état from the NSC they were forced into Arakawa with their Authoritarian Democrat counterparts which led to a gang war happening until the end of the war.
 +
 +Then down in Kyoto a shogun had popped up regarding himself as the "Heavenly shogun to bring Nihon to its golden age". They were extremely unpopular to say the least, years of democratic rule and colonial rule had bittered Nihon and caused an extreme dislike of any kind of monarchy, despite no successful assassination attempts they were extremely hated and any attempt at furthering public opinion failed horribly.
 +
 +With the NSC gaining control of Sapporo there was an extreme push out of Hokkaido and into Tohoku and Kanto, the Restorationist force followed suit and the two armies met in Arakawa, leading to a multi-year defense of the city, no other front had moved for the next three decades.
 +
 +The Tohokai group at this time had suffered even more internal strife as the two NSC and Restorationist armies fought around the city. Though, they soon learnt to adapt and grew roots down into the city, farming in closed off and hidden settlements so they could feed anyone in their faction. These roots are the main cause of the NSC having so much trouble securing the city in the post-war years
 +
 +During these years many charity services had popped up on both sides, the biggest of these is the Kurimoto Support Group (KSG). Ran mainly by Yukino Kurimoto and her daughter [[npc:yumiko_kurimoto|Yumiko Kurimoto]], the KSG had widened its suppport across the entirety of Nihon as the war neared its end. They are the reason most civilians lived during the war and why [[fuyutsuki|Fuyutsuki]] is now considered a famous location in terms of history for Nihon.
 +
 +Nearing the end of the war, [[place:Zhongguo]] had started giving support and supplies to the NSC in an effort to combat [[place:rigasia|Rigasian]] influence in Asia, this led to the Arakawa stalemate breaking and the NSC steamrolling through the Restorationists territory. The Restorationists did receive support from Rigasia after Zhongguoan volunteers and arms flooded into Nihon but, the supplies and volunteers hadn't made it there in time and sooner or later the NSC had taken Kyoto and won the civil war.
 +
 +===== The Nihonic Second Republic (Ni Nihon-koku) [1959 - Now] =====
 +
 +As the civil war came to a close, the country had suffered extreme drops in stability to the likes of the early first republic. One example of this is Arakawa: the Tohokai Group still had control over the city and werent giving it up, this lead to a multi-year long siege of the city that soon led to the Tohokai group falling back all the way to Edo Castle, which was eventually raided by the NSC Liberation Army. Some members of the Tohokai group had escaped to [[Goryeo|Goryeo]] after and during Arakawa's fall.
 +
 +After a few years though, most of the country had started to calm down and grow more. Yukino Kurimoto and Yumiko's sister Hana took it upon themself to help out with supporting the people as the country transitioned back to a democracy and stable economy under the NSC. For the most part the country in the modern era is stable and economically well off with support coming in from Zhongguo.
 +
 +On the international stage however, Nihon was cut off from most powers associated with Rigasia as it became a socialist state associated with Zhongguo, most people in Nihon have qualms with Rigasia and any outsiders supportive of them after documents and information regarding them supporting the Restorationists came out.
 +
 +The government had undergone a multitude of changes as well after the war and Faradian colonial era, first of all instead of the presidential democracy seen in the first republic, the country had become a direct democracy with more radical left leaning views. UBI had been enacted in the later years, in a shock to the rest of the international community, same sex marriage + inter-racial marriage had been legalized in Nihon under the new constitution, leading to multiple civil rights activists pledging support to the nation.
 +
 +One of the other things that had been done under the NSC was a kind of split up of the nation in a way similar to the United States of America in our timeline. Each local government of their respective region has control over legislation not mentioned by the federal government.
