 They wake up understandably confused and still in a small cell in a Malian fort, where they try to get their shit together and make plans for the future.

They dispatch Amanda to check, and she eventually comes back to tell them that there are two factions of malians engaged in battle for the fort. From what they can determine, they are now trapped in a cell in the middle of a slave uprising.

 Eventually, their cell (and a couple others close) are breached by revolutionaries, that seems elated to see them, ask them if they are Rigasian, and seem a bit down when they deny it. They are then led to a Musian dude ([[npc:Fulan ibn Fulan]]) that provides translation for both sides.

 Maelle ends shooting the breeze with Fulan, with whom she actually seems to have a lot in common: they are both queer folk from the rigasian timeline with an academic background who were fucked over by authority.
