This session was played on 2025-11-22. Clark, Gaia and Maelle defend an incoming train against a bunch of Rigasian saboteurs.
The day after the previous session, a meeting is hosted in the Hunter Guildhouse to try to put the information about Mariette Navia's attempt on Riung's life: Gaia gets to explain her daring bringing Mariette to the Umichooan Embassy and earning a favor from Oi-See Gauda.
They also learn that after almost twenty years, Valtshora is organizing actual elections. Of course that means that there are already several political parties that none of the characters would touch with a ten-foot pole, including one being push forward by Antoine Motyl himself, but alas…
Iorena Sevel then asks Claire if now that her handle in her “condition” seems to be better, she would be amenable to trying to unfreeze Zach Shpak. Claire reluctantly agrees, and Sozaya mentions that he managed to bring a medical specialist from The Merciful that can handle the mortal wound.
The issue is that trains coming from the east, especially those that bring important medical supplies to Valtshora, are being increasingly targeted by Rigasian saboteurs, so the party will be brought to protect it.
In the week between the meeting and the actual train ride, the party gets prepared: Claire makes arrangements to bring Derek, requesting an additional train car be added to accommodate it, then both of them survey the rail line noting possible points of ambush. Some other more extreme ideas by Claire are vetoed because no one wants the actual people who has to be in the train to accidentally trigger a fragmentation grenade.
Maelle does their own investigations, and studies instead the trends about Rigasian attacks in transports for the Free Valtshoran country, which have indeed increased as time goes on; they discover, though, that since Umichooans interceded in the Rigasia/Kesizma War, Rigasians have withdrawn most of their heavy tank units from outside their territory, and are depending now on lighter war machines and sabotage. Maelle also starts digging around for ways they can learn dreamwalking.
Gaia herself decides that this is a good time to hone her dreamwalking skills and tries to talk to AMANDA about it, but ends more confused than anything else. According to AMANDA, there are two main ways to go about intruding in someone else's dreams: an intrusive one where you impose your will in them, and a cooperative one where you learn to dream together as one. Apparently Gaia is more interested in the former.
Rose is fighting the greatest enemy of all: Paperwork.
Chronomancers do not open portals big enough to move something through it, thank you very much: they open microportals only big enough to pass a tiny stream of matter through them, then disintegrate themselves and reincorporate on the other side, which apparently makes the system a lot less of a power hog, but requires computers light years beyond what the Rigasian Timeline can handle.
Iorena's brain gears are figuratively smoking from the effort of keeping everyone's pronouns straight. Which might be the wrong way of going about it, since straight people are in very short demand.
The Rigasian Agents from the Paranormal Foundation are the first instance of the players ever meeting an opposed party of the same level as them.
