An Aberration found in the Nuskom Zone.

These are slightly deformed mosquitoes the size of a human hand. Not particularly dangerous alone, but a swarm of them will defend their territory and their poison causes blood to not coagulate, so more than one hunter died by blood loss trying to escape them.

The party found a swarm of these during the events of Session 0.

Giant mosquitoes have been one of the oldest and hardest to erradicate aberrations that you can find around the Nuskom zone. they have been there since a couple years after the bombing. It's just that in the beginning they were a lot less big In summer the Nuskom Lake grows quite a bit because of snow melting in the mountains, then lowers a bit as the water flows out or evaporates, and there are a bunch of marshy areas where insects breed.

Summer was always mosquito season, but after the bombing, they started getting bigger and bigger as years go by, and at this point they seem to have stabilized at being more or less the size of a human hand.

Mosquitoes are nasty in their lonesome, but dangerous in swarms because if you get bitten by a couple dozen of those you're gonna have a bad time. Also their poison is an anticoagulant so enough of those could cause a person to bleed out if not assisted.

As time goes by a bunch of different options have been tried to erradicate them, including fire and poison. Some people are thinking of introducing mosquito-hunting bugs to the zone but of course that's it's own problem because you don't want to deal with a fucking giant mantis.

Since mosquitoes fly they are one of the aberration types that can reach further from the Zone before dying and there have been at least two incidents in specially warm summers where a swarm reached Zwosta. That was not a good day: some very young or very old people were bitten to death.

This year there are several groups of hunters wearing different versions of containment suits and huge insecticide tanks as backpacks that they are using to spray around the lake. It's a bad idea to try to swim around the lake, or ever being in the lakeside.
