Story
Born Anémone Valois in the inter-war years (specifically 1931/10/31) to a rich and old family in Valtshora; they were curious, rebellious, and in general a pretty weird kid, but as an AFAB person, its parents intended it to be a pretty well-behaved thing that would allow them to bring more power and influence to the family. They were enrolled in a pretty strict private school where they got into trouble for asking the wrong questions, and punished often. They used to spend a lot of time hiding and studying in the quiet.
During the Second Great War, things become a lot darker and it had to step up its lying and hiding skills to keep itself safe. This only became harder because they came to care of a Romani kid they found hiding from the Blackcaps. It kept quiet as it watched students disappear from class, and stayed strong and feigned loyalty to the current regime while harboring contempt for them. They managed to hide the kid until he was reunited with their family.
They were witness to the Bombing of Nuskom and could have been one of its victims. As the front closed, Its parents choose to escape, and it was able to see the gigantic cloud formed by the bomb from afar. They managed to escape to Mesogeia and it managed to argue and fight its way to attend college via scolarship. At college it both got to learn enormous amounts of juicy science and make contact with some like-minded people who are *not* happy with the way Rigasia is handling the post-war years.
Despite their success at university, they refuses to deal with the kind of assholes that handle the western scientific world, and will never allow them to succeed as a woman, so they leave, travel around Mesogeia for a bit, and soon come to join the Green Bell. Here it gets the chance to actually investigate some aberrant phenomena behind the backs of the Rigasian confederacy. This is where it meets Yumiko Kurimoto, a Nihonic woman in her 60s, they take the surname Kurimoto to share with her, thus cutting ties with their past for good.
During its years of humanitarian work and secret investigations, it cooperated with other rogue investigators into making an interesting discovery: there are aberrant humans, who have come to depend on something around the Zones to have a healthy life. And it is one of them.
Sadly, the Rigasian scientific community buried that paper so deep you need to dig to find it.
During the events of Arc 1 Maelle has become much more proficient in their skills, negotiating sending Zach to be studied and saved after the events of Session 2, defeating Victor Vituska in a battle. Rebelling against Rigasia and the system at every moment has lead them to grow.
Mali lead Maelle to fully accept themself as who they are, and what their role in this life shall be. At every step of the way Maelle's chosen to help and save anyone they could during this dire time in a different timeline, from something as small as killing lizards to climbing tanks to save Kesizma and sacrificing themself to save Corporal Schidera from his untimely demise.
Appearance
Generally, Maelle has naturally straight, black hair that's usually styled in a hime cut (influenced from Yumiko), extremely pale skin, freckles, dark brown eyes, and lastly a pair of black square glasses
During Arc 1: Unstoppable, Maelle has a traditionally feminine appearance in this arc, wearing a white Green Bell coat with the cuffs of the sleeves specially cut by Yumiko to resemble that of a Yukata, a black a-line dress with a belt running through the waist, a worn out handbag with various trinkets and equipment, worn brown military style boots, and lastly black thigh high socks
During Arc 2: Untouchable, Maelle gains a much more butch appearance as they're thrown into medieval Mali. Sporting a black denim duster, white dress shirt that was tucked into their navy blue jeans, a golden buckled belt, brand-new black combat boots, the sheath and katana of Meiyo, and a worn out Rigasian Expeditionary bag taken from one Zoé Curie.
During Arc 3: Unbreakable, As they start leaning into their true self they gain a much more punk appearance, taking their clothing from arc 2 and adding various patches (including anarchist memorabilia, the Green Bell emblem, and more) and trinkets to the duster that they wore, a grey t-shirt, the hime cut being cut down to shoulder length, and then the rest of their appearance being the same, save a few things (for example, the Rigasian flag on the bag was replaced with the flag of an anarchist organization). They keep various equipment on them in the bag and in their jacket. These can include; a Beretta 950 in their inner jacket, a flashlight in the bag, a canteen filled with an unknown alcoholic liquid sitting in their pocket, a pen with a camera inside it, and more.
