Officially the Nihonic State, Nihon is an archipelago off the coast of Zhongguo consisting of the 4 main islands; Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu.

Before its annexation by Russia, Nihon was a pretty sleepy archipelago who didnt meddle much in the affairs of its neighbors, usually it would just trade with Zhongguo and other surrounding nations. The only conflict its faced before Russian annexation was a revolution against the ruling oligarchs known as the Taiyou Kouteitachi, causing whats known as the Sengoku period of Nihon, though by the end of it, Nihon became a stable republic centered in Edo until the annexation from Russia.

During its time as a russian colony it has undergone what was known as “Russification”, vain attempts by the Russian colonial government to convert the Nihonic people to Russian culture, forcing them to speak Russian instead of Nihonic and the burning of Shinto shrines across the country are examples of this. Disobeying the orders would get you and your family arrested, though after the fragmentation of Russia and the end of the civil war; Nihon slowly started to re-embrace its culture once more, though with different bits of Russian culture still prevalent in the nation. But, speaking Russian in public is still looked down upon as its considered “the language of the oppressor”.

After the fragmentation of Russia, Nihons economy crashes the hardest its ever crashed in its history, leading to a civil war containing 3 factions, the Shakai Minshu-tō party (Sapporo Government), The Tōhōkai group in Edo, and then the Restorationists (Kyoto Government). At first the colonial government head was ousted from power and executed by the ultra-nationalist Tōhōkai group, who replaced the Russian head with a Nihonic one. then in central Nihon, an Authoritarian Tōhōkai branch dictatorship pops up with its head in Edo, declaring that the ultranationalist branch of the Tōhōkai group “unfit for rule”, and then a 'descendant' from the old Nihonic Monarchy, before the Sengoku period that is, declares himself monarch of Nihon in Kyoto, even going as far as to having a damned parade through the streets into the somewhat restored Kansai senate building that was renamed to the “Taiyou Kyuuden” during the time the faction ruled Kyoto, and then finally just before the civil war officially starts, the Tōhōkai group is ousted from power, thus leaving Sapporo to be ruled by the Shakai Minshu-tō party; a group consisting of mainly social democrats and democratic socialists. Though with the Edo governments dissolution caused by meddling from the Ultranationalists, the fighting is mainly waged between Sapporo and Kyoto with Edo being the main city both fight for.

As the war goes on, multiple decentralized charities start popping up to support the impoverished and weak in their areas, the biggest of these being the Kurimoto Support Group centered in Kansai, they all soon join together to become the Nihonic branch of Green Bell after the civil war ends.

Both sides in the war have to deal with resistance from multiple different groups, the Sapporo Government dealing with the multitude of Tōhōkai group militias patrolling around acting as if Edo hasnt fell yet, killing random soldiers from Sapporo.. even going as far as to have gang fights with different factions in the group, it was like there was another war happening in Edo during this period. Then the restorationists had to deal with basically everyone with how unpopular monarchy is, especially the Taiyou Kouteitachi, the monthly military parade would always be met with boo's and eggs being thrown at the emperor with the occasional assassination attempt.

Sooner or later, Zhongguo starts to send aid and volunteers over to the Sapporo government causing Edo to fall to them, which in response Rigasia does the same and supports the Restorationists, though with the defense stationed in Edo destroyed, the Sapporo Government soon arrives in Kyoto with minimal resistance regarding the relative unpopularity of the Emperor. Thus, with the wars end, the Sapporo government becomes the Nihonic State.

After the civil war the newly reunited isle experiences rapid economic growth after opening trade with Zhongguo again, paving the way for a new golden age of Nihon! This causes the nation to start work on industrialization and social programs for the citizens to help ease them back into security, though despite the people being secure monetarily, welfare programs still exist for those who need it. With the governments pro-Zhongguo stance, Rigasia has cut all support for the nation, no one except Zhongguoan allies trade with them
